Birth certificate translations for UK passport applications
I am often asked if I can translate Spanish birth certificates for UK passport applications, and the answer is YES!
In the past the UK passport office has often been quite vague about what kind of translation is needed for the application, and have even been known to accept the international birth certificates issued upon request by the Spanish authorities.
But the Passport Service is now very clear on what kind of translation is needed for any foreign documents submitted:
‘Where a document written in a foreign language is submitted in support of a passport application it should be submitted with an English translation attached. It should be provided by a translator registered with an official organisation such as the Institute of Linguists or the Institute of Translation & Interpreting. A translator who is employed by a recognised Translation company the latter being a member of the Association of Translation Companies is also acceptable.’
I am a member of the Institute of Linguists, associate member number 024533 and as such I am now happy to offer my translation services to anyone applying for a British passport and needing Spanish documents translated into English.
I offer a fast turnaround and a personal service – please do not hesitate to contact me for more information: email@example.com
